This last weekend we went to our host's property about an hour outside of Berlin. The place is an old mill under renovations. We picked some apples which are going to be pressed into about 1000 bottles of juice in total when the operation is complete. Over-all, it was a relaxing weekend outside of the city. Included are pictures of the property, apples, apple juice, the small town, and these huge bee/hornet things (the pictures are a tad blurry due to rushed focusing for obvious reasons).

Berlin Zoo
Today we visited the Topographie des Terrors (Topography of Terrors) and the Berlin Zoo. The topography is a free indoor/outdoor museum which chronicles the many horrors committed by the Nazi Party before, and during WWII. It was informative albeit quite 'heavy'. The zoo, on the other hand, was very fun; as was getting icecream between the two events. Included are various pictures of the zoo and a video of a rhea trying to eat our shoes and my camera.
The rhino and her baby who was recently born at the zoo this summer. |
This baby flamingo appears to be practicing his yoga. |
Unfortunately, the cats were all inside by 6:00pm so we didn't get a chance to see any except this little Ocelot. |
For a euro or so you can drive these hydraulically powered excavators. Clearly, they have better playgrounds in Germany. |
